My Journey to Becoming a Certified Yoga Teacher

Yoga has always been a bit more than a physical exercise for me-it's a means of finding equilibrium, healing, and peace from within. Nevertheless, the idea of moving forward and attaining Yoga Teacher Certification always seemed far from reality. And here I am today-a certified yoga teacher-and am writing about my journey in deep gratitude and joy.

How It All Started:

I, too, started with yoga for reducing stress and being healthy in every aspect of my life. From being a purely physical practice, as I deepened into the subject, I came to understand it was more than that - it was a transformative journey of self-discovery. I started feeling an urge in my heart to share this beautiful practice with others; however, I was terrified to think of getting certified as a yoga teacher.

Choosing the Right Certification Program

As soon as I planned to take my Yoga Teacher Certification, I desired to have the experience authentic and fully immersed in the same. Thereby, having made a research over a couple of months I finally landed into this serene place, Rishikesh commonly referred to as "the Yoga Capital of the World." The strong historical and spiritual essence of this town was needed for me in deepening knowledge of yoga; I chose this globally recognized, holistic approach that comes with its training program Rishikul Yogshala.

Immersion in Teacher Training

The teacher training program was a life-changing experience. It was not just about learning the technical aspects of yoga, such as asanas, pranayama, and meditation. It was a deep dive into yogic philosophy, anatomy, and the art of teaching. The early morning practices, the calming sound of the Ganges River, and the support of my teachers and peers created an environment of growth and transformation.

Perhaps one of the most powerful lessons that I learned from my training is Seva or selfless service. It was a reminder to me that the real goal of yoga is not perfecting asanas but about developing compassion, humility, and service to others.

Challenges and Rewards

The journey was never easy. Such an intense schedule tested my strength, both in body and mind, and doubts about myself did creep in a lot. Still, each challenge helped me grow more resilient, connect with my self, and find strength.

Sharing Yoga with Others

Today, I am a certified yoga teacher. I feel blessed to be able to share this ancient practice with others. For me, it was not just a career step; it was an experience that transformed my life and helped me find my purpose.

If you are contemplating becoming a yoga teacher, do take the plunge. The journey is as satisfying as the destination, and no better place than in the heart of Rishikesh to take that first step.
